Contributions to AAS go to the following efforts, according to donor designation:

Youth Suicide Prevention Projects
Promotes research and prevention projects dealing with suicidal behaviors among children and adolescents.

The John Kalafat Memorial Scholarship Fund
To provide Annual Conference scholarships for crisis center staff members who would not otherwise be able to attend.

The Roger J. Tierney Endowment Fund
Provides scholarship support to individuals in need to attend training and educational conferences sponsored by AAS.

Development Fund
Supports efforts to seek larger foundation and federal grants for major initiative and programs in research, service, and prevention.

Public Education/Information
Helps AAS respond to thousands of requests annually from the public, students, and the media for statistical updates, background knowledge, information, etc.

Suicide Survivor Support Services
Updates national directory of support groups, helps establish new support groups, and develops resources for survivors.

Professional Education
Supports programs and resources to upgrade standards of care for suicidal individuals by members of the caregiving community.

Minority Fellowship Support
Provides stipend for minority students to intern with AAS to develop skills in suicidology.

Student Scholarship Project
Provides scholarships for students to attend the Annual Conference.

Seeking Hope Suicide Bereavement Research Fund
Supports suicide bereavement/postvention research projects.

General Fund
Supports new projects and services at the discretion of the AAS Board and Executive Director.
